The first half of 2020 has, well, been eventful. Simply mention “2020” and see what response you get. But, it has taught us to be resourceful.

At Sagecon, more than ever, 2020 it has caused us to be tenacious, collaborative and, importantly, ingenious in our approach to business and our customers. A perfect example of those three characteristics has been our involvement at the 279 Lt Collins St, Melbourne – the Causeway Hotel refurbishment – for APM Group.

Between them, the directors of Sagecon have 50+ years of experience in the HVAC and Refrigeration industry. Design and construct projects have been their staple since opening Sagecon in 2005. 2020 has put all that experience to the ultimate test.

Currently, our biggest and most design-reliant project is the “Causeway Hotel” at 279 Lt Collins St, Melbourne, for APM Group. This, a 100% Sagecon design and construct project. Through a lengthy pre-contract design process of value management and system changes, we worked every step of the way with the builder’s own dedicated staff to ensure their customer – the Causeway Hotels Group – got what they needed and wanted. Working with the developer’s consultants, we ensured their satisfaction and confidence in our capabilities before taking over the design process, ourselves. Naturally, we continued to work in thorough consultation with the consultants who, in this case, were ADP Mechanical Consultants.

The Sagecon design calls for a water-cooled VRF system using LG equipment. Having worked with LG before on the large water-cooled project at 1 Flemington Rd (2 x 21 storey towers, 600+ rooms), we knew they had this job covered and we had every confidence in selecting their gear for the project.

It is precisely here that Sagecon does best. With our team’s experience in the high pressure, design-reliant world of supermarket refrigeration, we have been able to provide our builders the “clevers” required to overcome the obstacles that are set before them: low ceilings, tight risers, impossible elevations are all part of the challenge. With more than 15 years in business, your site team will be well looked after from the early stages of the design, right through to the completion of the Defect Liability Period.
