Gareth Jekel
One of the most sought after refrigeration and air conditioning mechanical engineers in Australia, Gareth has been involved in the refrigeration industry since 1985 and is the recipient of several accolades for his contribution to the refrigeration and HVAC field (some examples are the Young Australian of the Year award for 1996 and Box Hill Tafe Apprentice of the Year 1988, among others).
At the age of 21, Gareth started New Systems Refrigeration. Within a few years it became one of the top three (along with Austral and Frigrite) refrigeration companies in the country, growing from only a few staff to over 150, and spanning the length of the Eastern Seaboard. During this period, Gareth helped develop the modern application of refrigeration and HVAC (including heat-reclaim) used in Australian supermarkets, and the central plant for refrigeration and AC use at convenience stores for Australian conditions.
An accomplished project manager, Gareth has project managed such buildings as the multi-story Wyndham Hotel in Sydney and more than 10 multi-apartment HVAC installations in Victoria. Due the high demand of the retail food industry, he has personally project managed more than one-hundred Coles and Woolworth refrigeration and air conditioning projects (up to 30 projects per year). Many Coles and Woolworths supermarkets from Melbourne to Queensland have a refrigeration/HVAC system installed that Gareth personally project managed.
More recently, with Sagecon, Gareth has been developing Sagecon’s revolutionary new energy-saving refrigeration and HVAC product: the Sagecon GreenSpec System.
